Aubook is designed with privacy at its core. We do not collect, store, or transmit:

• Your audiobook files or content
• Listening history or habits
• Bookmark contents or notes
• Location data
• Usage analytics or behavioral data
• Contact lists or personal files

Information We Do Collect

When you use certain features, we collect limited information:

Sign in with Apple (Optional)

If you choose to sign in with Apple to sync credits:

• User ID: A unique, anonymous identifier provided by Apple
• Name: Only if you choose to share it (you can hide your email)
• Purpose: To sync your credit balance across devices

We do not receive your real email address if you use Apple's "Hide My Email" feature.

Text-to-Speech Conversion

When you convert text or URLs to audio:

• Text content: Sent to our servers for TTS processing
• URLs: Fetched to extract article content
• Voice selection: Your chosen voice for the conversion
• Purpose: To generate audio files and cache for future use

Credit Purchases

When you purchase credits:

• Transaction ID: From Apple's App Store
• Credit balance: Stored on our servers linked to your Apple user ID
• Purpose: To manage your credit balance

Payment processing is handled entirely by Apple. We never see your payment details.

Aubook integrates with third-party services. Each has their own privacy policies:

Audio Caching

To provide instant playback and reduce costs, we cache converted audio:

• When you convert a URL or Gutenberg book, the audio may be cached on our servers
• Other users can access cached audio at a discounted rate
• Cached audio is stored indefinitely
• We do not associate cached content with your identity

Only convert content you're comfortable being cached and potentially accessed by others.

File Access

Local Files

Aubook accesses audiobook files you place in its Documents folder. These files:

• Remain on your device
• Are never uploaded to our servers
• Can be managed via Finder on Mac

Safari Share Extension

When you share a URL from Safari to Aubook:

• The URL is sent to our servers for content extraction and TTS conversion
• Generated audio is saved to your device
• The URL may be cached for future use by any user

Children's Privacy

Aubook is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us.

Data Retention

• Account data: Retained until you delete your account
• Credit balance: Retained until you delete your account
• Cached audio: Retained indefinitely for all users
• Conversion logs: Deleted after 30 days
• On-device data: Deleted when you remove the app or clear its data

Your Rights

You have control over your data:

• Access: View your credit balance and account info in the app
• Delete: Contact us to delete your account and associated data
• Export: Your audiobooks can be accessed via Finder
• Opt-out: Use the app without signing in (local playback only)

Security

We implement security best practices:

• HTTPS: All server communication is encrypted
• Apple Sign-in: Secure authentication without passwords
• Sandboxed App: iOS app sandboxing prevents unauthorized access
• No Password Storage: We don't store any passwords

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy occasionally. Changes will be reflected by updating the "Last Updated" date. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
